Beneath the surface

~~~
Like the snowdrops
Waiting
Beneath the surface
Below the autumn leaves
We sometimes forget
The beauty we seek
Is already there
It always was
It always will be
And will return to greet us
To blossom in the spring
 ~~~

For my wonderful wife Sue. A Pina Colada moment.
 Thank you, Gorgeous ... you are my life x

'Beneath the surface', Pebeo Fine watercolour on Matt Hannemuhle Cornwall watercolour board (450gsm), 24x17cm

Common Snowdrops in Hartford, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire UK

And finally, happy St David's Day to all our Welsh friends, both at home in Cymru and across the globe. The descendants of my paternal grandmother's family appear to have moved across the border from England into Monmouthshire in Wales over a hundred years ago ... so that makes me slightly Welsh.
Yaki da !!!  Lucky Sue decided to cook leeks for the main veg last night LOL.

Happy painting and drawing (And any other arty 'ings') to you all:)

  4. The Spring equinox is just twenty days away Mike. I announced it this morning to the love of my life who shrugged and finished cutting up the hothouse strawberries. But those snowdrops aren't by my doorway; the deer ate every one. A lovely poem full of Spring Eternal to go with a very lovely watercolor. Happy painting to you too. I just discovered I really am a portrait painter, now what am I supposed to do with that with tulips showing their tips and my woods about to spring to life?

    1. Thank you Linda. I thought it was only donkeys that ate strawberries? Oh well, we learn something every day! Landscapes or portraits ... Tulips or two lips - a difficult one!

  5. Ah so sweet.

    Lovely painting Mike. It is so easy to overdo these paintings, I think, but you have done this perfectly.
