Fields of Gold

I can't believe it ... A year ago yesterday I posted my very first entry to this blog. How time flies! So, in celebration of Blogiversary No 1, I thought it would be a nice idea to run a little competition. The lucky winner will receive one of my watercolours, chosen personally by me, and framed by a local gallery. Second prize is TWO of my paintings, third prize is THREE ... Chuckle, chuckle, you get the idea ;)

So, I decided that I would keep things simple and just pick the winner based solely on Google statistics. Based on the trafffic from referring sites, made to my blog in the last year and without further prevarication, the outright winner is ......

Tah ta-ta-ta ta taaaaaah .... Judy at De Draad Aquarellen !!!

Congratulations Judy, and a special thankyou for all your support over the last year, I believe you have commented on almost every single post I have made. Of course the same thankyou goes out to everyone that has taken the trouble to follow me, to leave comments and suggestions, or to just simply 'pop by' now and then. It is all very much appreciated and so thank you again, everyone. A special thankyou also goes out to Sandra at Sandraws,  for encouraging me to start my own blog in the first place !

And last, but not least, I offer this watercolour, with fond memories of my much missed mum, Iris, who was born 85 years ago on the 17th April. 'Fields of Gold' was one of her favourite songs in her later years.

Happy painting, sketching and drawing!

  9. Hai Michael:) I just became a follower on your blog so I hope I'm on time for your 2nd Blogiversary... :) Judy was very thrilled about it. She just wrote it to me. And she deserves it, she is such a kind person.
What does chuffed means? Google doesn't translate it. Or is it a code language? Anyway I think I'm chuffed too:)
Congrats with you first year blogging!

    1. Dankje Renate! Yes Judy is a very kind person and truly did deserve the painting I sent her:) Chuffed is a word we use in England when we are proud and pleased about something - it's a strange word and I've no idea where it came from. I'm chuffed that you decided to follow my blog!

    1. Oh Sandra, I thought you'd just deserted my blog LOL. I think there may be something wrong with my blog as I sometimes have to moderate comments (like this one) and I've got all that nonsense switched off AFAIK? But anyway ... I'm still very much here, but only posting once/twice a month ... at the moment:)

  13. Michael! I was over visiting Judy and looking at her 'prize' (congratulations by the way - I shan't be celebrating my 10 weeks blogging!) and she referred me here. I'm glad she did - your work is fantastic. I don't paint so I'm allowed to be OTT

When Pat and I were first married we made our home in Bassingbourne and used to go into Huntingdon shopping .....(whisper) in 1960!

    I've become a follower, I hope you don't mind.

    1. Thank you very much, John. I took a little look at your work too - the pen work and the ceilings - amazing stuff! I don't have the patience to draw with such devotion and I still can't saw a piece of wood straight to save my life so I'm alllowed to be OTT too ;) Nice to know that you know the area. I don't think Huntingdon has changed much since 1960. Yes of course, I'm delighted/chuffed to bits to have you as a follower!
